Transportation for medical appointments is available for Garden River Band members. Read on to learn more about the eligibility requirements.
The Medical Transportation Program provides transportation to residents of the Garden River First Nation who meet the criteria in the following three categories.
Medical Van Transportation may be provided to Sault Ste. Marie for those in need of a ride to attend their medical appointments that are approved by Health Canada.
Health Canada requires the letter of Confirmation of Attendance to be signed or stamped by the medical professional and given to the driver. Services will be suspended by Health Canada until document is received.
The Medical Van transportation is NOT available for personal errands before or after the scheduled appointment. Please note this is a shared service.
After Hours Transportation may be provided to Sault Ste. Marie for those in need of a ride to attend their medical appointments approved by Health Canada that are scheduled before 8:00 a.m. or after 4:00 p.m. during week days or appointments scheduled on weekends.
Urgent transportation may be available for non-life-threatening illnesses that require medical attention occurring after hours.
If an emergency, call 911.

H&CC Transportation is exclusively for clients in the Home & Community Care program of Garden River Wellness Centre.
H&CC Shopping Transportation may be provided for non-medical appointments in Sault Ste. Marie (i.e. banking, groceries, shopping, hairdresser/barber etc.)
H&CC Wellness Centre Transportation may be provided for clients to their appointments at the Wellness Centre.
This service is not available on statutory holidays or when the Wellness Centre is closed. Please note this is a shared service.

There is sanitizer and masks on board, a shield to protect your children and the driver, along with a variety of different car seats to properly and safely transport your children to and from sessions!
