IN-HOME FAMILY SUPPORT

The In-Home Family Support program helps families to build new skills to preserve and strengthen the well-being of the family unit through:

  • Providing informational and practical assistance with:
    • Parenting
    • Household management
    • Relationship challenges
    • Life skills
    • Decision making
  • Promoting and encouraging the physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development of all members of a family. 
  • Offer professional support, advocacy, and guidance; and referring family members to other community services when necessary. 
  • Offering Educational Programs, on a regular basis, to all interested community members. 

 


FAMILY WELLNESS PARTY

The In-Home Family Support Team also offer the Family Wellness Party. This unique program allows families to host an educational topic delivered in the comfort of their own home. 

PARTY GUIDELINES:

  1. A Family signs up to host a party in their home.
  2. The Host Family:
    • Chooses a workshop from the list of available workshops.
    • Chooses the date and time of the party.
    • Recruits other families to attend the party.
    • Chooses which snacks/meal that the IHFS program will provide.
    • Ensure Childcare is arranged if needed.
  3. Two IHFS workers will facilitate the selected workshop. *a specific worker may be requested and every effort will be made to accommodate the request; however, due to other commitments the worker may not be able to facilitate the party.  
  4. Snacks or a meal will be provided (selected by the Host Family).
  5. The IHFS workers will have a sign-in sheet and program evaluations to be completed by each participant.
  6. All participants will receive a $40 Gift Card incentive for attending.

*Please Note: All programs are geared towards adults/parents/guardians.

HOST FAMILY INCENTIVES:

  • Each Host Family receives a coffee maker (if hosting for the first time), one case of water, two bottles of juice, one can of coffee, two creamers, and a bag of sugar.
  • The Host Family will receive a $100 Walmart gift card for hosting a Family Wellness Party with a minimum of 5 families attending. *Family in this instance is defined as a household.
  • For each additional family that attends the Host Family will receive a $25 gift card.
  • If a Family that attends books a Family Wellness Party of their own, the Host Family will receive an additional $50 gift card per party, once the party occurs.

DUE TO FUNDING REQUIREMENTS

  • this program is available to Band and/or Community members of Garden River First Nation ONLY.
  • Family Wellness Parties must occur in homes located in Garden River First Nation.
  • Participants must be Band and/or Community members of Garden River First Nation to receive the incentives.
